Public Sector Property

We provide property assistance to Crown Agencies, State Owned Enterprises, Local Authorities and Network Utility Operators in matters concerning land held in public ownership. We are able to research land ownership, historic legislative changes which have resulted in statutory vesting and provide reports suitable for submission to Land Information New Zealand.

Land Acquisition

We are expert negotiators and specialise in securing land for New Zealand's vital infrastructure projects. We are able to provide advice on acquisition strategy for linear projects, carry out acquisitions and make recommendations as to compensation entitlements.  We are also experienced with compulsory acquisition processes.

Property Disposals

We can assist with statutory processes and requirements under the Public Works Act 1981, including fulfilment of obligations under section 40 to confirm offer back obligations to former owners.  We are also accredited to carry out Treaty of Waitangi settlement processes involving first right of refusal to Iwi under various Treaty Settlement Acts..

Gazettal Processes

We are accredited by LINZ to prepare gazette notices and proclamations for publication in the New Zealand Gazette.  We carry out legalisation actions on behalf of the Crown and Local Authorities under the Public Works Act 1981, the Local Government Act 1974/2002, the Reserves Act 1977 and the Land Act 1948.

Our strength

Bringing Property Projects to Life

We work alongside stakeholders, engineers, designers and landowners, planners and surveyors to deliver fit-for-purpose property outcomes.  We can assist with site selection, property evaluation and bring together the right people to make our clients' visions a reality.

Planning Services

Resource Management

Preparation of project consents and district plan designations

Our consultant RMA planner is able to assist with the preparation of resource consents and advise on any planning issues which may be relevant to your project.

Public infrastructure will often require a designation in the district plan to protect a site or route from any adverse development which could jeopardise the ability to deliver a project.  We are able to assist with advice on the level of due process required to achieve designations and advance that process in parallel with land acquisition measures.
