Public Works Act 1981
We are accredited to undertake the required processes in the acquisition of land under the Public Works Act for public works purposes so that statutory functions can be exercised by the Crown and Local Authorities.

We are accredited by LINZ to make recommendations as to the award of compensation to landowners whose land is acquired for public works purposes. We are expert negotiators and conversant with valuation practices and relevant case law and pride ourselves on our successful track record of achieving negotiated outcomes for full compensation for landowners.

Generally, only adopted as method of last resort, we are able to assist with compulsory acquisition processes on behalf of the Crown, local authorities and Network Utility Operators including preparation of required notices and proclamations.
Statutory Right of Repurchase
We manage the end-to-end disposal of Crown-owned land in terms of the Government disposal process under the Public Works Act 1981, including preparation of section 40 reports, managing offer back processes to successors of former owners and Treaty of Waitangi offer back obligations to Iwi. Once land has cleared these processes we will manage the open market sale of land for our clients.
Local Government Act
We are accredited to undertake roading actions (road declarations and road stopping) for Local Authorities under the Local Government Act and the Public Works Act. These assignments may involve an exchange of land for road and public consultation depending on the circumstances. We manage the process, then prepare and submit the necessary declaration in the New Zealand Gazette.
Legalisation Processes
We are able to prepare legalisation documents and notices to support the statutory approval decisions of decision-makers such as the Minister for Land Information, the Commissioner of Crown Lands, the Minister of Conservation
Right of First Refusal
We are accredited by Land Information New Zealand in Treaty of Waitangi Claim Settlements to enable the removal of Right of First Refusal (RFR) notation memorials that are registered against Record of Titles as part of the Crown land disposal process.

A lot of land held for public works purposes is leased and STRADA is able to assist with leasing processes of land held under the Public Works Act 1981.
