LAND STATUS INVESTIGATION

There are times when ownership of land is unclear and requires investigation.  Surprisingly, there are vast tracts of land in New Zealand which still remain in historic deeds indexes and have not been brought under the Land Transfer Act.  Many areas of Crown land are not titled at all.  

One area of particular complexity involves land adjoining rivers and coastlines where erosion and the elements have changed the land over time.  Rivers change course and adjoining landowners legal title may require verification.

We are able to provide technical reports to support landowners, the Crown and Local Authorities which examine historic survey plans and Crown Grants and historic legislation to pull together a picture of where ownership of land lies.. 

Land Information New Zealand will require a land status report to confirm Crown ownership of land before any dealings with that land can be advanced.
