Supporting stakeholders in the acquisition of land for infrastructure projects

Landowner Support

Is your land required for an infrastructure project? Are you feeling overwhelmed and anxious about the impact this bombshell will have on your life and potentially your livelihood?

We are here to help - no matter where you are located in the country.

Anyone confronted with a Public Works Act acquisition of their land is entitled to engage a negotiator and legal advisor to support them in reaching agreement on acquisition terms and compensation entitlements.

Best of all, your reasonable costs are covered by the acquiring authority as part of your compensation entitlements. Standard procedure is that these are usually covered up front so that you are not out of pocket.

We are expert Public Works Act negotiators and can guide you through the acquisition process every step of the way.

Public Sector Property

We provide property assistance to Crown Agencies, State Owned Enterprises, Local Authorities and Network Utility Operators in matters concerning land held in public ownership. We are able to research land ownership, historic legislative changes which have resulted in statutory vesting and provide reports suitable for submission to Land Information New Zealand where ownership is uncertain.

Property Disposals

We can assist with statutory processes and requirements under the Public Works Act 1981, including fulfilment of obligations under section 40 to confirm offer back obligations to former owners.  We are also accredited to carry out Treaty of Waitangi settlement processes involving first right of refusal to Iwi under various Treaty Settlement Acts..

Gazettal Processes

We are accredited by LINZ to prepare gazette notices and proclamations for publication in the New Zealand Gazette.  We carry out legalisation actions on behalf of the Crown and Local Authorities under the Public Works Act 1981, the Local Government Act 1974/2002, the Reserves Act 1977 and the Land Act 1948.
